punch/accent

creating a fashion statement must have the "WOW" factor inorder to make it POP...what is the "WOW"factor all about?!
in decorating and designing, the "WOW" factor is something you say or shout from the moment you see a room or place...something that caught so much of your attention, an inspiration to take or use...
how can we create a "WOW" factor considering a "minimal budget"?

simplicity and creativity are the keys to consider.

a. accent wall - creating accent wall will transform a simple room into a new look. experimenting in colors and with the use of our creativity we can come up with design concept for our wall...simple lines, strong solid colors, graphic design, pattern design and etc can be use as inspiration.

b. artwork - hanging a simple artwork, painting, rug, fabric and etc. can be a focal piece with the use of strong color background to create a stronger punch.

c. lighting - inexpensive recessed downlight using CFL or led light can create drama in a space. warm white and cool white are often use to develope a good lighting warm effect. Table or floor lamp is very essential for me...it does not only provide aesthetic but also the need of having a light beside your bed.

d. beddings - a good and crisp white bedding is the most essential in creating an impression of cleanliness. if you don't have one, any color will do but don't settle for that... put some thing on the end side of the bed like throw, band or runner... well, you can use your old table runner :) make sure it smells good. you can use long scarves, shawl, old batik fabric, spare fabric with good print.

e. accent pillows - you can turn a vey boring sofa or chair using a throwpillow... it gives color and punch for a dull color scheme.

design,details and depression

I feel bad when i woke up this morning because when i opened the TV still there are a lot of people who haven't been rescued from flood, hungry and cold...pictures and footages from the news are really depressing.i feel so guilty because i don't know how to help. i asked my mother to give all unused clothes, blankets and towels we have and thank God we were able to collect 3 big bags...i hope prayers can do a lot for those people who can't give physical and financial help.

it's getting dark again and i think strong rain will come :( with strong wind!!! too scary cos i'm a lot afraid of wind than heavy rainfall...there's so much trees around around us :(

I hope after all these disaster that our country has been going through God will use each and every one of us to help our country stand once more...i pray to God that He will use me in helping people to make their houses a better place to live :)

I just want to share what i did to my client who became a friend beacause of what we shared during the process of building their house.

It was 2005 when my officemate introduced me to joel and arlene, they we're looking for a design consultant. When I met them we had a very warm, friendly and good conversation. The first requirement that they really emphasized well was about the minimal budget that they have for the development of the house... i thought of minimalism, fit for minimal budget ;)hahahaha! they asked me if they can bring along some of their old pieces i immediately said YES!!! those are very valuable for them and I want it to be in a place that will highlight it's value and antiquity.
As we go along the design development of the house we shared special friendship from each other. Every week we look for some materials that will fit perfectly within our budget without sacrifing quality and aesthetic.

We came up with transitional design direction. we want to incorporate modern from their old pieces and reflect casual elegant look.

At their living area we placed their antique grandfather's clock that made a great accent together with modern custom-made furniture pieces... we furnished the living area for only P52,000.00 ($1,083.00) Just right for our budget! On the opposite side of the the seating area we placed an accent stoned wall with console table and sunburst two way mirror... from the master's bedroom they can see directly the living area through the mirror.
At dining area... we furnished it with the budget of P46,000.00($958.00)
For short we fully furnished the entire house less than half a million :) a house with 3 bedrooms, 3 T&B, 2 extra small rooms, lanai and big garden infront and rear side.
The house was sold last year because they decided to transfer in batangas. now, we will join forces once more to build a 2 storey house for their growing family.actually we started last May and the construction last july.
Details:
"Volume, proportion, texture and color"
These are the 4 elements needed to create a well developed and well designed space.
taking picture of your room after furnishing and decorating will help you see what's lacking and inappropriate.
Beige and brown are really my basic colors. you can never go wrong with these palette... you can incorporate a lot of colors with this scheme. it gives warm and dramatic mood. so if you're not sure of what color scheme to use...beige and brown is the safest of all!

Serendra Sales Pavilion

I was hired at BDMA late 2003 because they needed someone to take in charge of the Serendra Sales Pavilion Project...yes!!! thanks to BDM (owner of the company- my boss!) who gave me the opportunity to work in his team.

At first i felt so scared because of the responsibility and work load...i can't believe m really working professionally! brain storming for design concept, color scheming, furniture selection, documentation, etc. etc. etc. i felt exhausted everyday. i suffered too much stress...first time in my life!

As the project went on i realized that i enjoyed every detail of my work... designing, coordination, site visits, etc. etc. etc. i will never forget the moment when i had my unexpected site visit wearing an off-shoulder blouse! i was surprised when the entire construction men went to the barracks office to consult insignificant matters...where the hell can you find that...off-shoulder on construction site?! well atleast i was wearing hard hat!!!

i had so much fun dealing with different people... i guess that's where the detail comes.

the original design concept that we've made was towards transitional (mix of traditional and modern) BDM asked me to have the hotel looking design...but to our surprise the client was so dissapointed in our presentation...palpak! i got sad i felt i was to blame but it was an order from my boss. the direction they want to see is more of the modern look...casual and relax.they were right...are you going to enter in a very grandeur place jus to buy a condo unit? on my part i won't!

well, the project ended but i was not able to attend the launching because it was ate cecil's wedding day.
Design Details:
The black painted and framed drop ceiling gave the space the look of modern... combining a little of industrial look with the use of black paint and a soft framed drop ceiling in ultra white paint were perfectly blended for a transitional concept.

How will i start?

"How will i start writing in this blog?"

i'm not really into writing essays, stories, papers, etc.... but i guess blog was made for people like me... saying it all without rules and conditions, perfect expression of what i feel!!!

i want to share my passion and love for design and details that create a strong impact that gives beauty and style... reminding myself always where i belong and considering the big factor which is working on a "BUDGET".
I pray that these hands and talents that were given to me are my ways of serving and loving Him... i want to share...i want to help... i want people to have a beautiful place to stay and feel good about the way they live. i noticed everytime we dwell in a clean and nice place we want to maintain that factor and by doing so our attitude, behaviour, actions and lifestyle reflect the same. i want people to get inspired to uplift their lifestyle...
DESIGN and STYLE is not only for rich... we can have a beautiful room or house with some times without any cost!
i want to share little details and design that i've made through my 8 years of practice in design and decorating and hoping to bring more inspiration for a timeless living.
